The education for the first degree (B.Sc.) lasts for 8 semesters and is finalized by a state exam. The graduates obtain the title “Ecologist” and are prepared to work as executive and controlling experts-ecologists in various departments and their divisions, in organizations for study and management of protected areas, slightly disturbed or heavily influenced by human activity. Optionally, during the training they could obtain teaching certificate.
The general and specialized fundamental training of the future specialists is done through the courses botany, zoology, microbiology, eco-physiology, phytosociology, geology, soil science, climatology and hydrology, organic and inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics, mathematics and informatics.
Specialized professional training is achieved by studying the following courses: soil contamination, water and air pollution and impacts on ecosystems, conservation of flora and fauna, protected natural territories, landscape conservation, soil erosion, reclamation of destroyed lands, environmental monitoring.
