Assoc. Prof. Momchil Panayotov Panayotov, PhD

Momchil Panayotov studied Forestry in the University of Forestry in Sofia and graduated in 2000 with master degree. The topic of his master thesis was ““Research of the Avalanche Activity on the North-Western Slope of Todorka Peak, Pirin Mountains”. In 2007 he finished his PhD thesis on topic “Influence of some ecological factors on the growth of tree species from Pinaceae family at the Bulgarian treeline” . During 2007-2011 he did a Post-Doc research in the WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF in Davos, Switzerland.

Scientific interests:
Natural disturbances and natural dynamics in mountain forests;
Influence of extreme climatic events on tree species;
Reflection of climate extremes and climate variation in the tree rings (dendrochronology).
