Kiril Georgiev Stefanov Mechanization in Horticulture Aim and of the course: The course &#8222;Mechanization in Horticulture&#8220; aims to give students majoring in &#8222;Fruticulture&#8220; and &#8222;Vegetable Growing&#8220; theoretical and practical knowledge of the application of modern technologies and machines in orchards and vegetable production, which are needed in order to take management decisions related to the application of specialized machines and equipment in gardening. The course of lectures presents the latest achievements in the field of automation of processes in horticulture. Content: The lectures presents the energy resource types in agriculture, the structure and principle of operation of specialized agricultural machinery for horticulture, methods of operation and possibilities for application of different types of agricultural machinery used in Bulgaria and abroad. The structural design of the machines for tillage, sowing and planting, fertilizing, irrigation, plant protection and harvesting of fruit and vegetable crops is studied. The course includes issues related to the production and technical operation of the machine-tractor units, the methods of complementing the tractor engines and design of modern mechanized technologies in horticulture, based on the use of high-performance machines and global navigation systems for the application of precision agriculture. The machinery and equipment for production of ornamental planting material, for producing of seeds, cuttings and seedlings, soil cultivation, irrigation, fertilization, and for park vegetation protection is considered.
