It gives knowledge on the mechanical interactions between material objects, their movement and equilibrium, as well as on the necessary strength and stiffness of the structural components (of machines, furniture etc.). This knowledge is the basis of all following fundamental and specializing technical disciplines. The students have to learn how to design and use the structural components in operational conditions so that they should bear the loading without fracturing or inadmissible deformation. This requirement is observed always and irrevocably in the engineering and provided by a Mechanics course. The discipline is fundamental, classic and generally acknowledged as necessary for the engineering education. The course has a practical orientation and is bound with the specificity of the specialty Engineering Design (Interior and design of furniture).

Course contents:
In the lectures, the general part of the theory of the mechanics of the rigid body (section Static) and deformable body (section Strength of materials) are studied. Most of the lecture examples are original, including questions from the general technical culture needed by engineers. A great number of the example problems are directly related with the specialty Engineering Design (Interior and design of furniture). During the class sessions and training, individual class problems are assigned, solved and defended by the students as a process of a practical application of the theoretical knowledge.

Lecturers:

Prof. Georgi Yordanov Vukov, PhD

     </details>
      <details id="e-n-accordion-item-1468" class="e-n-accordion-item" >

Physics

Course Description

The lecture material is aligned with both the degree program of the education of students from the relevant degree program, and with the current workload of the course. Lecturers: Chief Assist. Prof. Martin Atanasov Stanev, PhD Electromagnetic Radiation in the Environment This course is part of the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Ecology and Environmental Protection This course aims to highlight one of the most serious problems that emerged with new technologies, namely the rapid growth of electromagnetic fields around us of an anthropogenic nature. From a physical point of view, it is a task to acquaint students with the sources of electromagnetic fields, their frequency range and their influence on our health. This is a new problem for human civilization and the task is to familiarize students with the latest aspects of this problem. The course introduces students to the main sources (natural and anthropogenic) of electrical, magnetic and electromagnetic radiation. Their main characteristics, their measurement, the impact on our health, as well as the ways to protect us are also discussed. All kinds of electromagnetic waves – radio waves, microwave radiation, infrared, visible and ultraviolet light, X-rays, and all three types of radioactivity – alpha, beta and gamma are included. The existing regulatory framework in the Republic of Bulgaria as well as the World Health Organization is considered. Lecturers: Assoc.
